Appearance: Greed is about 6 feet tall, has black hair that seems to naturally spike up, and has the characteristic purple eyes of a homunculous. He usually has a smirk or grin on his face which show off his very pointy teeth. The clothes he wears show off how extremely fit and muscled he is, wearing a sleeveless black top and a brown vest with a white fur collar. He is often seen wearing dark sunglasses with round frames. On top of his left hand is the oroborus tattoo, the sign of an artifically created human.

His true homunculous form, however, is a dark blue-black color all over his body. He is bald and over his head and shoulders are the red lines characteristic of homunculi. His eyes are red now (that is, the "whites" of his eyes are actually blood-red). His teeth stand out in his dark face, as his face is lipless and his teeth are visible as a result. The roots of his canines are even visible, making his face look rather like a skull.

Personality: It might be obvious to say that a large part of Greed's personality is greed, but to not say so would mean not introducing a great part of who he is and understanding why he does what he does. True to his name, Greed has a desire to own everything and anything. Of course, this includes things like women, so he has a reputation of a womanizer (though because he is greedy, he sees no reason to limit himself on who he takes to bed.)

He's arrogant, though he knows when to fight and when running away is the wiser choice. He may be greedy, he says, but he is not stupid. He does like to taunt and tease people, especially when he wants them and they (futilely) resist. He is not interested in forcing people to give him what he wants; he is arrogant enough to believe that they will give him what he wants after some persuasion (and once they see that it really is better for them to do as he wants.)

For a so-called "sin", he has some what might be considered odd priniciples, such as a refusal to fight women (unless she's Dante), and not telling lies (for it is easier to get what he wants by telling a truth than a falsehood.)

Abilities/Strengths/Weapons: His special homunculous ability is to rearrange his carbon molecules into a tough outer shield which is impossible to pierce through. It is the reason he is the Ultimate Shield. He can also regenerate, provided he has red stones in his system.

Weaknesses: Like all homunculi, if he lacks red stones, he is more easy to fight and takes longer to regenerate. Also, he is defeatable if the remains of the human whom he resembles is near him.

Weapons/Notable Possessions: Since he wants anything and everything he can possibly attain, none of his possessions are what one could call "notable."

History: As a human, he had the extreme misfortune to become Dante's lover, for she killed him in order to experiment with humunculous creation. When he was created as the humunculous Greed, he had no memory of his human life and denied ever being human. He especially denied having been the fool who trusted Dante. Immediately from his "birth", he rebelled against Dante and her orders- he had no interest in doing what she wanted, being too occupied with his own wants. Eventually, because of her inability to control him, Dante had him sealed away, the skull of the dead lover used to disable Greed from breaking free.

One hundred years later, however, the skull was broken and Greed was freed, along with a number of part-human chimeras, resultants from experiments done by the military. Greed established himself as their leader and soon after their escape from Lab 5, they found a place in Dublith where they lurked in a bar called the Devil's Nest. The reason for this location was its proximity to Dante. Greed couldn't have her know he was free, but he needed her red stones.

Before he could think up a plan to get red stones from Dante, he encountered Envy. Initially he is approached by Lust, one of the new homunculi, who is actually used as bait by Envy. Unfortunately for Envy, the bait worked too well (mixing Greed and Lust without supervision was a bad idea) and as a result Envy attacked Greed and nearly killed him. Lust intervened, and Envy spared him, but when Greed returned to the Devil's Nest, he was in dire need of red stones. With no time to form a plan, he decided to just attack Dante head-on; without the red stones, he would die, and if he failed to get the stones from Dante, she would kill him, so he really had no choice but to risk that.

On the way to Dante's, however, he met Envy, Lust, and Gluttony. Even near death, Greed found the time to flirt with Lust, which annoyed Envy and caused him to have something of a hissy fit. Greed and Envy end up having an argument, during which it is revealed that Greed intended on fighting Dante for stones, a fight that would undoubtably end in his death. Envy told Greed that he has been plotting against Dante for centuries, and that if Greed wants to take her down, his best bet is to join him. Greed joined Envy and co, and got red stones for it.

For the first while, Greed followed Envy's plan to subtly spoil Dante's plans and help the Elrics where it benefited their plan, thwarting them when they were going to do something stupid. At some point, Envy and Greed's relationship became more agreeable, eventually landing them and Lust in bed together. Greed still pursued others, despite being with a sin that disapproved of "his" people having things other than what he had, but Greed was able for the most part to balance Envy's jealous hold on him with his own wants, even stopping in on the Devil's Nest now and then, where the chimera still welcomed him and acknowledged him as their leader.

For awhile, things were slow, as Greed merely followed Envy's orders and hid from Dante. But then Sloth, one of the "loyals", kidnapped Alphonse Elric and brought him to Dante. Envy decided it was time they reveal their true intentions toward Dante, so he, Greed, Lust, Gluttony, and Wrath, along with Mustang and Edward go to her mansion to finally take her down.

First they encountered Sloth, and as a result of that battle Gluttony went crazy. They were forced to kill him, which ended with Wrath getting injured. He was left behind with Al whom they rescued, the other five proceeded on. Then they found Dante and Pride and they split off into two groups. Greed found himself fighting with Dante when he was pulled abruptly into Econtra.
